Gisela 6®

P. cerasus x P. canescens
Developed from the *P. canescens* x *P. cerasus* cross at the University of Giessen in Germany, Gisela®6 is a patented cherry rootstock. Characterized by moderate vigor, it occupies an intermediate position between the more compact Gisela®5 and the more vigorous MaxMa 14. Its main strengths are early entry into production and a positive impact on fruit size and quality. It requires fertile, irrigated soils and supports a lower planting density than Gisela®5. Like the latter, it shares the same susceptibility to major fungal and bacterial diseases.
