P. cerasus x P. canescens

This renowned cherry rootstock, patented and selected by the University of Giessen in Germany, is the gold standard for high-density orchards. Thanks to its pronounced dwarfing effect, Gisela® 5 reduces tree vigor, leading to earlier fruiting and ensuring excellent productivity. It significantly improves both fruit size and organoleptic quality. It exhibits excellent graft compatibility and does not produce suckers. It requires fertile, moist soils and an irrigation system. Regarding plant health, it shows good tolerance to crown gall, though care must be taken regarding its susceptibility to *Pseudomonas*, *Phytophthora*, and *Armillaria*.
