BA29

IMG_8781_edited.jpg

If you are looking for a reliable pear rootstock, the BA29 quince is one of the most popular choices. Selected in France by the INRA institute in Angers, this clone develops a strong, fine, and branched root system that ensures excellent plant stability. It thrives in fertile, cool soils but is drought-resistant and tolerates active limestone well. BA29 imparts good vigor to the trees and ensures abundant, consistent yields over time. Furthermore, it enhances the final quality of the fruit, making it larger, more attractive, and tastier. However, it requires careful management regarding plant health: it has moderate susceptibility to fire blight and is vulnerable to crown gall, pear decline, viral diseases, and severe frost.
